5-DAY ASHTANGA INTENSIVE
Spend 5 days immersed in your practice, learning about the correct method and technique, and the meaning and beauty of Ashtanga Yoga.
If you love practicing Ashtanga Yoga or want to learn more about it, this is a wonderful opportunity to spend five full days getting to know this beautiful tradition of Yoga. With daily morning Mysore-style self-practice safely guided by David, technique and posture workshops for Primary and Intermediate series, and much more, each student regardless of their experience, will be able to deepen and enrich their practice.
• The principles of alignment in the Primary Series
• Introduction to the Intermediate Series
• Learning about the traditional Sanskrit count
• The method of rhythmic breath
• Safe and effective hand-on adjustments
• Techniques of arm balances and handstands
• Techniques of jumping vinyasas
Each morning we will do Mysore style self-practice as in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Afternoons will offer workshops on technique.

Morning Mysore Style Self-practice
Mysore style self-practice is the traditional format for practicing Ashtanga Yoga. Led classes are a fantastic way to learn about the vinyasa, but Mysore-style is where you follow your own breath and deepen your focus and meditation skills. This is a unique opportunity to practice in a room full of devoted Ashtanga students, and experience adjustments and guidance from a teacher who leads one of the world’s largest Mysore programs outside of Mysore.
Learn to Float: Graceful Vinyasas
Focusing on the vinyasas of the Sun Salutations, and the transitional jumping vinyasas, this session offers detailed techniques, alignment and energetic principles that take us towards graceful, weightless transitions between postures in the practice. This session is useful for students beginning their Ashtanga path, for teachers needing tips and techniques to share with students, and for more experienced practitioners looking to inspire and deepen their practice.
Perfecting the Fundamental Asanas
Take a deep and detailed look at the alignment and actions of Ashtanga’s opening sequence. Study the exact vinyasas that connect each of the postures, and learn ways to deepen the work and progression of your daily practice.
Alignments and Adjustments
Take a more detailed look at the alignment, adjustments and basic anatomy of key poses in the Primary Series. As a student or a teacher you will develop a better understanding of what to observe in your own or others’ body during practice and energetically experience the state of the asana.
Intro to Nadi Shodhana: Key postures of the Intermediate Series
Ashtanga’s Second Series of postures is designed to cleanse and charge our nervous system. This session will provide an accessible introduction to some of the deeper backbends, hip-openers and arm-balances that make the Intermediate Series such a transformative practice. All levels of practitioners are invited to attend.
This is a playful tour of some the unique vinyasas that show up through Ashtanga’s first 3 series. You know the regular old jump back and jump, but unique vinyasas are the special entries and exits into specific postures. This fun workshop breaks down the technique on how to do some of the special lifts and jumps the get us in and out of these postures. All are welcome.
